Ethiopian Coffee Edge Out CBE 1-0 in Rescheduled Match
Reigning Ethiopian Premier League champions, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ethiopian Coffee in a rescheduled Week 1 match at Dire Dawa National Stadium on Sunday.
Match Rescheduling: The game was initially postponed due to both teams’ commitments in CAF club competitions.
Ethiopian Coffee’s Breakthrough: The only goal of the match came from Anteneh Teferra, who finished off a fast transition play just before halftime. Teferra’s sixth goal of the season sees him joint top of the league’s scoring chart alongside Mohammed Nur Nassir of Diredawa Ketema.
Challenges for CBE: Having failed to score in their third consecutive game, CBE's performance is still lacking. The reigning champions are near the bottom of the league rankings after only managing to score one goal in their last four games.
League Table: With 15 points from their win, Ethiopian Coffee moved up to sixth place, while CBE remained in 16th place with just nine points. The champions now have a tough battle to maintain their title and avoid relegation.
As CBE battles to find form and move up the league standings, coach Betselot Luelseged will be hopeful his team can turn things around.
