Estudiantes and Vélez Face Off in Supercopa Final Estudiantes and Vélez Face Off in Supercopa Final

Estudiantes and Vélez will clash this Tuesday to decide the new champion of Argentina's Supercopa Internacional 2025, a domestic title contested between the winner of the Trofeo de Campeones and the best team of the 2024 aggregate table.

The La Plata side earned its place in this final by lifting the Trofeo de Campeones, while Vélez secured its spot thanks to its overall consistency last year. The match, hosted at Estadio Libertadores de América – Ricardo Enrique Bochini, promises high stakes and intensity, with a new name set to join the short list of previous champions, Racing and Talleres.

Estudiantes arrive with major lineup changes. The marquee signing of Uruguayan goalkeeper Fernando Muslera gives the team a boost, but injuries and departures have disrupted the build-up. Promising defender Joaquín Tobio Burgos suffered a pelvic fracture and is out for at least two months, and striker Guido Carrillo remains a doubt with a muscle issue. Defender Sebastián Boselli, expected to start, was recalled by River Plate and will miss the final.

Vélez, led by Guillermo Barros Schelotto, come in with solid international form. They topped Group H in the 2025 Copa Libertadores and will face Fortaleza in the Round of 16. In the domestic scene, though, they struggled in the Apertura, finishing 13th in their group. Reinforcements such as Lisandro Magallán, Diego Valdés and Lenny Lobato will look to tip the balance in their favor.

If the match ends in a draw after 90 minutes, extra time and, if necessary, penalties will decide the winner.
