Espérance Close in on Omar Al-Somah Signing Ahead of Club World Cup Debut


In preparation for their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign Espérance de Tunis's close to finalizing high profile acquisition in the form of experienced Syrian attacker Omar Al-Somah.
Negotiations have proceeded according to club insiders and the deal's anticipated to be finalized before the special transfer window ends at midnight on Tuesday 10 June. If confirmed, Al-Somah would be eligible to join the Blood and Gold’s squad for the Club World Cup group stage, which kicks off on Sunday, June 15.
A strategic addition for a historic challenge
Espérance find themselves in Group D of the expanded 32-team tournament alongside European giants Chelsea, South American champions Flamengo, and MLS powerhouse Los Angeles FC. Strengthening the attacking line has been a priority, and Al-Somah’s arrival is seen as a major boost.
The Syrian international is still among the most prolific goal scorers in Asian football history at the age of 36. Al-Somah scored 155 goals and provided 25 assists in just 197 games during his storied time in Saudi Arabia. This incredible total highlights his deadly touch in front of goal.
