Enzo Maresca, who was dismissed by Chelsea just today, could be in line to replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Details: According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Enzo Maresca remains on the Citizens' shortlist should Guardiola depart. The club holds the Italian tactician in high regard, but as of now, no agreements have been reached. There are also no active negotiations underway at the moment.
It is reported that Maresca's candidacy will only be considered if Pep Guardiola leaves. Guardiola himself is fully focused on the current season and has yet to make any decisions about his future, while Maresca holds great respect for the Manchester City manager and is not pushing for any developments.
Interestingly, Maresca has already been part of Guardiola's coaching staff at Manchester City, so this wouldn't be a new environment for him.
Notably, these two sides will face off in just a few days in a Matchweek 20 Premier League clash. The game is scheduled for January 4, kicking off at 18:30 Central European Time.
For the record: Enzo Maresca became the first manager in Premier League history to leave his club on New Year's Day.
