Enzo Fernandez has apologised for the scandalous video
Central midfielder for Chelsea and the Argentine national team, Enzo Fernandez, found himself at the center of a major scandal yesterday. During the celebration of Argentina's Copa America victory, the players sang a racist song about France. This song was noticed by viewers during Enzo Fernandez's Instagram live stream.
The midfielder has since realized his mistake and issued an apology. In his Instagram stories, Enzo wrote:
"I would like to sincerely apologize for the video posted on my Instagram channel during the team's celebration. The song contains highly offensive language, and there is absolutely no excuse for these words. I stand against discrimination in all its forms and apologize for getting carried away during the Copa America celebration. This video, this moment, these words do not reflect my beliefs or my character. I am truly sorry."
After the video surfaced online, the French Football Federation filed a complaint with FIFA against Argentina. Additionally, Chelsea has launched an internal investigation into the incident.
It is worth noting that Chelsea has six French players on their roster, who are undoubtedly displeased with this video.
