Entered golf history: McIlroy wins his first Masters and completes career Grand Slam
This past weekend in Augusta, the first major of the new season took place — one of the most prestigious and historic tournaments in the world of golf, the Masters.
The best golfers on the planet gathered to compete for the prestigious trophy. And this edition truly made history.
Details: Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy claimed his first victory at the Masters. Notably, this was his 17th career tournament.
Like many other participants, he navigated the tournament with some ups and downs. In the final round, Rory had two double bogeys and three bogeys. The title was decided in a playoff shootout against Justin Rose, where McIlroy managed to secure the win and don the famous green jacket for the first time.
Additionally, Rory McIlroy made golf history by becoming the sixth player to complete the career Grand Slam. He has won all four majors — the US Open, The Open Championship, the PGA Championship, and now the Masters.
Before him, only five golfers had achieved this feat, the last being Tiger Woods in 2000.
