Enough! Messi takes legal action against Argentine media over invasion of family privacy
A family’s grief is no excuse for a media circus.
Details: Lionel Messi’s legal team has announced the launch of legal proceedings against Argentine media outlets that violated his family’s privacy during the farewell to the footballer’s father, Jorge Messi, in Rosario.
Jorge Messi, Leo’s father and long-time agent, passed away overnight from Friday to Saturday at a Rosario clinic at the age of 68 after a prolonged illness. The private farewell ceremony was held on Sunday with only close family in attendance. However, according to the Argentine press, a number of outlets crossed all boundaries in their chase for sensationalism, and now they’ll have to answer for it in court. Immediately after the funeral, Messi flew to Miami.
This isn’t the first painful blow to the family this summer. Back during the World Cup, while Jorge was undergoing treatment, false reports of his death forced Lionel Scaloni to personally debunk the rumors, and the Messi family to publicly plead with the media for “humanity.”
Reminder: RIP. Lionel Messi's father has passed away
