Despite interest from Juventus and other clubs, a transfer involving Barcelona's central defender Ronald Araújo now seems highly unlikely.
Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, after meeting with the club's sporting director Deco, Araújo decided to remain with Barcelona.
Furthermore, the Uruguayan defender is set to sign a contract extension with the club in the near future. However, the parties still need to finalize the details of the new deal.
Araújo missed the start of the season due to a serious injury but made his return during the Copa del Rey match against Barbastro (4-0). He later came on as a substitute in the Spanish Super Cup victory over Real Madrid (5-2).
Reminder: Barcelona’s key central defender Iñigo Martínez is set to miss at least a month due to injury.
