End of an era! Olympic legend Jonny Brownlee announces retirement at 36

One of the greatest endurance athletes of the modern era has officially decided to step away.

Details: World and Olympic triathlon champion Jonny Brownlee has officially announced his retirement from competitive sport at the age of 36. The British icon concludes a legendary professional journey defined by grit, sportsmanship, and historic podium achievements across more than a decade at the highest international level.

Brownlee became a global sporting icon alongside his brother Alistair, capturing individual bronze at London 2012 and individual silver at Rio 2016 before finally securing Olympic gold in the mixed relay at Tokyo 2020.

The Yorkshire native also claimed the World Triathlon Series title in 2012, cementing his status as one of the most consistent and versatile triathletes in the history of the World Triathlon organization.

It is worth noting that Jonny Brownlee is the only triathlete in Olympic history to collect a full set of medals, having won individual bronze, individual silver, and relay gold across three consecutive Games.
