His trademark deals read like a modern Inter hall of fame: Lautaro Martinez, Achraf Hakimi, Marcus Thuram snatched from under Milan's nose, and André Onana signed for free then sold for €55 million a year later. Last year he turned down a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal out of loyalty, which makes this exit all the more surprising. With the English window only just closed, his availability could trigger a fascinating move for one of the Premier League's ambitious projects.

It's worth noting that Ausilio himself named Kovacic, Brozovic and Onana as his best signings, a trio bought for a fraction of what they later commanded on the market.
