End of an era: Griezmann could leave Atlético as early as January
It appears that European football may soon bid farewell to another of its iconic figures next season.
Details: According to Marca, Atlético Madrid legend Antoine Griezmann has reportedly decided that this will be his final season with the club.
The French forward plans to continue his career in MLS, a league that has long attracted his interest. Griezmann is drawn to the American lifestyle, is a huge fan of the NFL and NBA, and wishes to live in the United States.
There’s even a chance Griezmann could leave Atlético during the winter transfer window, allowing him to begin the MLS season with his new club in March.
The most likely destination is Los Angeles FC, where he would join fellow legends Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud.
During his time with Atlético, Griezmann has made 407 appearances, scoring 185 goals and providing 90 assists.
Reminder: Barcelona and Atlético had planned to play their upcoming La Liga match, scheduled for late December, in Miami but could not reach an agreement with the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
