Croatia were eliminated by Portugal in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the national team are now without a head coach.
Details: The Croatian Football Federation has officially announced that Zlatko Dalić has stepped down as Croatia's head coach.
Quote: "Head coach, thank you for everything — the victories, the achievements, the qualification campaigns, the medals, the unity, the respect, and your unwavering dedication to fighting for Croatia, both on and off the pitch.
Your results speak for your qualities as a coach. The respect you have earned from your players, staff, and opponents says a great deal about the person you are," the statement read.
Dalić spent nine years in charge of the national team, leading Croatia to the 2018 FIFA World Cup final and guiding them to a third-place finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
As a reminder: Brazil appointed Carlo Ancelotti as head coach, and he guided the team to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but they failed to reach even the quarter-finals. It has now been revealed whether he will remain in charge of the national team.
