Emotions run high! Tennis star Cam Norrie throws racket into the stands in frustration over loss
British tennis player Cam Norrie found himself in an awkward situation during the ASB Classic tournament in New Zealand, reports the Daily Mail. Frustrated by his loss to Facundo Díaz, Norrie threw his racket, which accidentally hit a spectator in the stands.
Norrie immediately approached the woman to apologize for his behavior. She accepted his apology with a laugh, assuring him that she was fine. Norrie shared this in an interview afterward.
“I was not meaning to do that and it is completely not me, to do something like that, I apologised very quickly and I want to apologise in general, I’m not happy with how I behaved,” Norrie said.
The past year was challenging for the athlete, as a bicep injury sidelined him for three months and significantly impacted his performance.
Currently ranked 49th in the ATP rankings, Norrie’s career-high was eighth, achieved in September 2022. The British player has won five ATP titles and reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 2022.
