Emerse Faé is no longer the head coach of the Ivory Coast national team

The Ivorian Football Federation announced on 31 July that the Ivorian manager’s contract will not be renewed following its expiry.

Emerse Faé’s time with the Ivory Coast Elephants has come to an end. Having served as interim manager in January 2024 before officially taking the reins of the Ivory Coast national team in February 2024, the former Ivory Coast international is stepping down from his role as manager.

The announcement of his departure was made by the Ivory Coast Football Federation in a statement on Friday 31 July.

“The Ivorian Football Federation informs the entire Ivorian football family that the contract of Mr Emerse Faé, manager of the Ivory Coast national A team, expired on 31 July 2026 and will not be renewed.”

Contrary to reports that had previously circulated suggesting that Emerse Faé had extended his contract by three months, he will ultimately not be continuing his tenure with the Ivorian national team. Since taking charge of the Ivory Coast national team, Emerse Faé has led the Elephants to victory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and guided the side to qualification for the 2026 World Cup, where they reached the knockout stages of the tournament for the first time in their history.
