Elite One: Unisport beat Aigle Moungo to consolidate their lead

The Bafang club continues its title charge.

Aigle Moungo had, however, taken the lead within the first thirty minutes at the Bafang Municipal Stadium. Away from home for the matchday 21 of the Cameroonian professional league, Aigle Moungo opened the scoring in the 24th minute, 1-0, thanks to a penalty converted by Jean Emmanuel Chamdjou. But the home side’s response was not long in coming.

Joe Cole Mbella levelled the score for Unisport in the 33rd minute, making it 1-1. The two teams went into the break level. But the second half proved fatal for the visitors. Unisport Bafang stepped up the pressure and managed to assert their dominance. The leaders of the Cameroonian league doubled their lead in the 50th minute, making it 2-1 thanks to an own goal by Joseph Nga. Achill Fokem sealed the home side’s victory in the 77th minute, making it 3-1.

Thanks to this win, Unisport have temporarily opened up an 8-point lead over their nearest rivals, Colombe.
