El Hadji Malick Diouf: « Senegal needs us, and it’s an honor to represent the country »
African champions in 2023 in Cameroon, Senegal will approach the next edition with the ambition of reclaiming their title, after exiting the last campaign prematurely.
This view is shared by Senegalese international El Hadji Malik Diouf, who spoke about Senegal’s objective for the next Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for Morocco in 2025.
Invited on Canal+, the young Lion praised the collective strength of the group:
“We have a very good group, made up of quality players playing in major leagues. The mentality is excellent, and we work together to give our best in every match. Senegal needs us, and it’s an honor to represent the country,” Diouf said.
For Malik Diouf, this AFCON represents an opportunity:
“We are preparing for the AFCON, and it represents a great opportunity. We have been fans, and soon we will become soldiers for our nation. Playing for the country is a duty that we must take seriously and positively. God willing, with good health, we will give our best and aim to win this Africa Cup of Nations,” he adds.
A symbol of the rising new generation and having made a good start to the season with West Ham United, the Senegalese international has established himself on the left wing as well as in the national team. Senegal is in Group D alongside Benin, DR Congo, and Botswana.
