The former Senegalese international refused to pay maintenance for his minor daughter.

The complainant is El Hadji Diouf’s ex-wife. According to the Senegalese press, she appeared on 10 March 2026 before the Dakar Magistrates’ Court, accusing El Hadji Diouf of breaching the provisions of the Criminal Code relating to the refusal to pay maintenance. The former Lion of Teranga had a daughter with his ex-wife.

According to the civil party, the refusal to pay child maintenance set by a court order constitutes an intentional offence, as the perpetrator cannot claim ignorance, negligence or insolvency. At the conclusion of the trial, which took place in the absence of El Hadji Diouf, the court sentenced the former Senegalese international to a one-year suspended prison sentence.

He is also required to pay 10 million CFA francs in damages.
