Egyptian TV Presenter Mocks Al Ahly Players After Shopping Spree Before Porto Clash

Yasmin Ezz, an Egyptian TV host, has caused controversy by making fun of Al Ahly players for shopping in New Jersey prior to their pivotal matchup with FC Porto in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup group stage.
Shopping Photos Trigger Fan Anger
Images of several Al Ahly first-team players surfaced on social media, showing them casually shopping at a mall in New Jersey just hours before their final group match. The timing didn’t sit well with many Al Ahly supporters, who saw it as a sign of poor focus and low morale.
According to Al-Masry Al-Youm, the players had official permission from head coach Jose Ribeiro to take a break for a few hours after training.

Yasmin Ezz Reacts
In a televised segment, Ezz sarcastically commented:
“Al Ahly players went shopping in America, and when the photos hit social media, people were furious. They said the players have given up and know they’re going home.”
She continued her mockery:
“Some even said, ‘Maybe they needed to buy something.’ Well, what were you buying? Did you bring us anything on your way back? Should you even be taking photos at a time like this?”
Divided Reactions
While some defended the players' right to a break, many fans believed the timing was inappropriate—especially with a must-win match on the horizon.
Al Ahly's performance against Porto could now define their future in the tournament—and perhaps the tone of public support.
