Egypt – Pyramids: Ramadan Shobi suspended for 4 years
In pretrial detention, Pyramids striker Ramadan Shobi was found guilty by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in connection with anti-doping tests on Wednesday, November 26.
The player is suspended for four years, a ban that will last until 2028. The player's defense can appeal this decision. The appeal must be filed within the next 30 days.
Ramadan Shobi was found guilty of forgery and use of forged documents in a high-profile case in Egypt. He had initially been provisionally suspended by his country's anti-doping agency, but the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sought a harsher suspension for the player, as it was not convinced of his innocence.
The Pyramids player and other co-defendants were found guilty of orchestrating the falsification of exam copies, the falsification of attendance and departure records, and the creation of official documents contrary to the truth to prove attendance at anti-doping exams of the Egyptian Institute of Tourism and Hospitality which did not, however, take place.
