Egypt holds its breath for Emam Ashour
The Egyptian international was substituted due to injury during Al Ahly’s league match against ENPPI.
Emam Ashour collapsed on the pitch on Tuesday 5 May during Al Ahly’s match against ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League. The Egyptian international had asked to be substituted, and initial medical examinations are not encouraging.
Al Ahly’s medical staff have reported that the midfielder has suffered a bruised knee. Emam Ashour will, however, undergo further medical tests on Wednesday to determine the exact nature and extent of the injury.
This is a major blow for Egypt as they prepare for the World Cup, which is due to take place this summer in the United States, Canada and Mexico. If Emam Ashour’s injury proves to be serious, the Egyptian national team will have to do without him for the World Cup.
