Egypt Held to Draw as Botswana Joins Them in AFCON 2025

Egypt and Botswana ended their final Group C match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with a 1-1 tie on Sunday evening at Cairo’s Air Defense Stadium.
Botswana scored first with Omphile Kibatho, who made the goal just 8 minutes into the game. But Egypt quickly caught up when Mahmoud Trezeguet scored an equalizer in the 15th minute, making the score even for the home team.
With 14 points, the Pharaohs, who had already guaranteed their spot in the AFCON finals, took first place in Group C. With their tie, Botswana moved up to 8 points, guaranteeing them the second position and the group's last qualifying spot for the AFCON 2025, which will take place in Morocco.
