Egypt Confirm Friendly Match Against South Africa Ahead of AFCON 2027 Qualifiers
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has confirmed that the Pharaohs will face South Africa in an international friendly during the October international break.
The match is scheduled to take place at the Cairo International Stadium on October 4, 2026, with kick-off set for 9:00 PM Cairo time.
Both Egypt and South Africa will use the friendly as part of their preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The Pharaohs are drawn alongside Angola, Malawi and South Sudan in Group B of the qualifiers. They will begin their campaign in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola on 23rd September 2026 before taking on South Sudan on the 27th of September.
Meanwhile, the Bafana Bafana are in Group D with Guinea, Kenya and Eritrea. They will begin their campaign in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Guinea on the 23rd of September 2026 and then take on Eritrea.
