Eguavoen Names 28-Woman Squad for Olympic Qualifier Against Comoros

Interim Super Falcons coach Augustine Eguavoen has called up 28 players for Nigeria's Olympic qualifier against Comoros in October as the team pushes toward LA 2028.

The squad is led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade and first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, with senior stars Asisat Oshoala, Michelle Alozie, Ashley Plumptre, Toni Payne, Christy Ucheibe, Jennifer Echegini and Uchenna Kanu all making the list.

A few exciting young talents have also earned call-ups, including Christiana Uzoma, Farida Abdulwahab, Tumininu Adeshina, Favour Nkwocha, Shakirat Moshood, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Janet Akekoromowei. Many of them currently play in the Nigeria Women's Football League.

Nigeria will take on Comoros over two legs, with both games taking place at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo on October 9 and 13. The Super Falcons advanced directly to the second round, while Comoros booked their spot after seeing off Sudan in the first round.

Eguavoen will be assisted by Christopher Danjuma, Olatunji Baruwa and former Super Falcons defender Ayisat Yusuf for the qualifier.
