Edouard Mendy lashes out at CAF once again
The Senegalese international goalkeeper has once again criticised the management of African football.
Amid the controversy surrounding the African Football Confederation’s Appeals Committee’s decision to strip Senegal of the African championship title and award it to Morocco, Edouard Mendy has not missed the opportunity to take aim at the governing body of African football. At a press conference ahead of the international friendly between Senegal and Gambia, the Senegalese goalkeeper once again strongly criticised the management of African football.
In his view, CAF is failing to meet the expectations of the continent’s stakeholders. This has become a recurring situation that undermines the credibility of African competitions on the international stage, according to Mendy.
It has become commonplace for it to fall short of expectations. We cannot command the respect of the Euros or the Copa America, because we lack strong governing bodies to elevate our competition to the level it deserves.
