It is a wonderful tribute from the Saudi Pro League club to its Senegalese international goalkeeper. Freshly crowned African champion 2025 with the Lions of Teranga, Edouard Mendy received honours befitting his title at Al-Ahli FC, the Saudi Arabian club where he plays.

A commemorative shield was awarded to the 33-year-old goalkeeper in recognition of his performances at the Africa Cup of Nations, which took place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. During the tournament, Edouard Mendy played a key role in Senegal's victory. His cool-headed save of Brahim Diaz's Panenka penalty was the highlight of his tremendous performance during the continental competition. Al-Ahli FC rightly decided to celebrate the Senegalese player.
