Edmond Tapsoba Named Bayer Leverkusen Captain Ahead of 2026/27 Season
Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly named Burkina Faso international Edmond Tapsoba as their new captain ahead of the 2026/27 season.
According to Sky Germany and journalist Florian Plettenberg, Tapsoba will take over the captaincy from Robert Andrich, who has been removed from the leadership role.
Plettenberg reports that Patrik Schick is also in contention to become the club’s new vice-captain, while Andrich will not be considered for the position.
The situation could also signal the end of Andrich’s time at Leverkusen, with the midfielder reportedly informed that he is free to leave the club before the transfer deadline.
Tapsoba is now set to lead Leverkusen into the new campaign, taking on an important leadership role as the club prepares for the 2026/27 season.
