Ed Sheeran Helps Ipswich Secure Major Summer Transfer

Renowned musician Ed Sheeran, a long-time fan and investor in Ipswich Town since 2021, has reportedly played a direct role in helping his favorite club secure an important player transfer this summer, according to The Sun.

Ipswich’s CEO, Mark Ashton, revealed that Sheeran personally assisted in convincing a player to join the team. While Ashton did not disclose the player’s identity, he shared the story behind the unique recruitment effort.

"In the summer we were trying to persuade one particular player to join the football club and realised very quickly that he was an Ed Sheeran fan. Ed jumped on a Zoom call with him at the training ground just before he stepped on stage with Taylor Swift, hopefully that was a key part of getting the player across the line," said Ashton.

According to SunSport, the player in question is believed to be Liam Delap, a former Manchester City midfielder. Delap has proven to be a valuable addition, currently leading the team as its top scorer with six goals.

Ipswich is currently sitting 17th in the Premier League standings, with eight points from 11 matches. The team is just one point clear of the relegation zone, making every contribution, on and off the pitch, crucial to their survival.
