Dybala undergoes knee surgery and will leave Roma as a free agent
Roma forward Paulo Dybala has undergone surgery on his left knee, effectively bringing his season to an end. The striker had the procedure at Rome’s Villa Stuart clinic after more than a month of conservative treatment failed to bring any improvement.
The Argentine’s contract with Roma runs until June 30, 2026, but according to Calciomercato, the club has no plans to extend his deal. After four years in Rome, Dybala is likely to depart the team—with Boca Juniors and several MLS clubs reportedly among the possible next destinations for his career.
It’s worth recalling that Dybala has been troubled by knee issues for several weeks. Despite undergoing a series of medical tests that initially failed to reveal any serious damage, the discomfort persisted. During one of his recent training sessions, Dybala again felt pain in his left knee just minutes after starting and was forced to stop. This led to the decision to proceed with surgical intervention.
The player underwent a diagnostic arthroscopy, during which doctors discovered a small partial tear of the lateral meniscus. The injury was repaired, and the recovery is expected to take approximately five weeks, according to preliminary estimates.
