Today in Zurich, the draw ceremony for the European qualification stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup took place.

Details: A total of 54 teams were divided into 12 groups. Six groups consist of five teams, while the other six groups have four teams each.

Only the group winners will earn direct qualification for the World Cup. Teams finishing in second place will compete in the playoffs.

It is worth noting that some teams will only recognise their opponents from the first basket based on the results of the UEFA Nations League play-offs

  • Group A: Germany/Italy (winner of the pair), Slovakia, Northern Ireland, Luxembourg
  • Group B: Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Kosovo
  • Group C: Portugal/Denmark (loser of the pair), Greece, Scotland, Belarus
  • Group D: France/Croatia (winner of the pair), Ukraine, Iceland, Azerbaijan
  • Group E: Spain/Netherlands (pair winner), Turkey, Georgia, Bulgaria
  • Group F: Portugal/Denmark (pair winner), Hungary, Ireland, Armenia
  • Group G: Spain/Netherlands (loser of the pair), Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Malta
  • Group H: Austria, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, San Marino
  • Group I: Germany/Italy (loser of the pair), Norway, Israel, Estonia, Moldova.
  • Group J: Belgium, Wales, North Macedonia, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein
  • Group K: England, Serbia, Albania, Latvia, Andorra
  • Group L: France/Croatia (loser of the pair), Czech Republic, Montenegro, Faroes, Gibraltar

The first matches for groups consisting of five teams will take place on March 21-22.

Reminder: The 2026 World Cup will be the first in history to be hosted by three countries: the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
