Doumbia Progresses with Watford – Malian Forward Making His Mark in England
Malian youngster Mamadou Doumbia continues to make waves in England! On Friday, the 19-year-old striker struck early in Watford’s 1-1 draw with Burnley during Matchday 43 of the Championship.
Second League Goal of the Season
It took just eight minutes for Doumbia to open the scoring, giving the Hornets an early advantage. The goal marked his second in the Championship this season and his fifth across all competitions.
Growing Confidence in the Championship
Starting the match from the outset, Doumbia made the most of his opportunity. With 21 total appearances this season – including 19 in the Championship and nine starts – the Malian forward is showing clear signs of adaptation and growth.
From Bamako to England: A Rising Prospect
Before breaking into the first team, Doumbia impressed with Watford’s U21s, netting three goals in two matches, including a standout brace against Bristol City last December.
The forward, who was born in Bamako, signed a six-year contract with Watford after leaving Stade Malien, and on July 1, 2024, he formally joined the senior team. He has consistently fulfilled expectations as one of Mali's most potential overseas talents ever since.
