Doubts are mounting over the organisation of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations

Scheduled to take place in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July, the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations is raising further questions.

The tournament could ultimately be relocated due to delays in infrastructure development and preparations, according to Le Monde. According to the French newspaper, some members of the Confederation of African Football are now pessimistic about the three host countries’ ability to complete the necessary work in time to host the tournament.

In light of this situation, CAF is reported to have already sounded out several countries that could take over the organisation of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Morocco, Algeria and South Africa are said to have been approached. However, no official decision has yet been announced regarding a possible relocation of the tournament.

This information contrasts with the remarks made recently by CAF President Patrice Motsepe during his visit to Kenya and Tanzania. Motsepe had expressed confidence regarding the progress of the preparations.

“I am increasingly confident and satisfied with the state of the preparations. I am very proud of the remarkable work that is continuing in Tanzania,” Patrice Motsepe had stated.
