Lazio have pulled off one of the smartest free transfers of the summer.

Details: According to Sacha Tavolieri, Bamba Dieng is now a Lazio player. The Senegalese striker will sign a three-year contract with the Serie A club and is set to earn €1.5 million per year plus a €500,000 signing bonus. The Roman club are expected to officially announce the deal on Thursday.

The 26-year-old arrives in Rome as a free agent after leaving Lorient at the end of June. Last season the forward spectacularly revived his career in France, scoring 15 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions, which sparked interest from Hoffenheim, Freiburg, Real Betis and Nice. Lazio moved fastest and won the race.

Dieng made his name at Marseille, where he played from 2021 to 2023, before moving to Lorient and spending the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Angers. Now he gets a fresh start in Italy with a club looking to climb back up the Serie A table. It's worth noting that the striker is an Africa Cup of Nations winner, having lifted the trophy with Senegal in 2021.

Reminder: Sensational shock in Serie A! Milan star unexpectedly offered to a direct rival.
