Diego Simeone reacts emotionally to Alvarez's disallowed penalty
Atletico Madrid failed to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, losing to Real in a penalty shootout with a score of 2-4. One of the most controversial moments was Alvarez's disallowed strike, to which Simeone reacted with great emotion.
Details: At the post-match press conference, the Argentine coach posed a rhetorical question, asking if anyone had seen Julian Alvarez touch the ball twice. He also noted that he had never encountered such a decision before.
Quote: "To everyone present: raise your hand if you noticed Julian touched the ball twice. Come on! No one? Another thing – I've never seen VAR review a penalty shootout strike," said Simeone.
Earlier, we reported that replays, photos, and freeze-frames do not provide a definitive answer as to whether Alvarez touched the ball twice. From the angles shown in the broadcast, the contact with the Argentine's supporting foot is not apparent.
