Diego Simeone offered his remarks on the setback in the match against Girona

Atletico Madrid's head coach Diego Simeone commented on the defeat against Girona (3:4) in yesterday's La Liga match.

The Mattress Makers trailed 1:3 during the course of the game but managed to equalize through Morata's efforts. Despite their gameplay dominance in the second half, the Madrid-based team unexpectedly conceded a goal in stoppage time, departing Catalonia without securing any points.

"We had a very, very good second half. The players gave everything and forced me to make the changes because they looked tired. Last play, their goal. Following the loss to Girona, Atletico remained in third place in La Liga with 38 points. Today, Barcelona could displace Atletico from the medal zone if they win their match against Las Palmas.

On January 6th, Simeone's team will face Lugo in the round of 16 of the Spanish Cup.
