Diego Martínez Eyes Five Key Signings as Cerro Porteño Plan Aggressive Transfer Window
Cerro Porteño is preparing for an aggressive approach in the upcoming transfer window after a disappointing first half of the year. According to Versus, head coach Diego Martínez signaled the need for reinforcements, noting that a deep evaluation of the current squad will take place once discussions begin with sporting director Gabriel Wainer.
“We haven’t talked about that yet because we were focused on key matches,” Martínez said after the 2–2 draw against 2 de Mayo. Still, he emphasized that an agreement within the club will lead to targeted signings to address specific needs.
Initial reports suggest Martínez has identified five priority areas: a left-footed center-back, a left-back, a left winger, a central midfielder, and a striker. The strategy reflects a clear intent to strengthen core positions and build a more competitive team for the second half of the season.
“We’ll keep trying so that what we couldn’t achieve now, we can accomplish later and give the fans something to celebrate,” Martínez stated.
