Diego Campillo Returns to Chivas With Bold Claim: “We’ll Compete and Be Title Contenders”
Diego Campillo is back at Chivas, and his confidence is unmistakable. Speaking to Mediotiempo ahead of the Apertura 2025, the defender, who rejoined the club after a stint with FC Juárez, said Chivas are poised to challenge for the title thanks to renewed energy, fresh signings, and head coach Gabriel Milito’s leadership.
Campillo, a product of Chivas' academy, is optimistic about what lies ahead. “We’re going to compete and be serious title contenders,” he declared. He credited Milito not just for tactical preparation but for restoring belief and unity within the squad.
The team has been strengthened with the arrivals of Bryan González, Efraín Álvarez, and Richard Ledezma, joining in-form players like Omar Govea and striker Maravilla Martínez. Campillo noted a higher intensity in training and friendlies, a reflection of Milito’s competitive mindset. “He wants us to win everything. That’s the mentality we’re building,” he said.
Although still adapting to the demanding style, Campillo feels at home again and believes fans will see a new Chivas—intense, committed, and determined. The team won’t debut until Matchday 2 due to renovations at Estadio Akron for the 2026 World Cup, but Campillo is sure: this Chivas side will make its mark.
