Head coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani of Ghana's Black Galaxies is confident in his team's prospects as they prepare to play Nigeria in the last round of the regional qualifications for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2024.
The first leg is set for December 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the return fixture scheduled for December 28 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. In February, Uganda, Tanzania, and either Kenya or Rwanda will host the CHAN 2024 finals, where the aggregate winner will guarantee a place.
Dramani expressed his thoughts on the match in an interview with SuperSport Blitz, saying: "You have to be prepared to take on the greatest if you want to succeed. Meeting Nigeria wasn’t surprising—both teams are quality opponents, and that’s the beauty of football."
He also highlighted the importance of the competition for domestic players:
"This is an opportunity to showcase what we are made of locally and inspire these young players to see their potential for the senior national team. We aim to instill our philosophy and style of play in them."
This marks the second consecutive year Ghana and Nigeria face off for CHAN qualification. The Black Galaxies secured their spot in the last edition by defeating Nigeria on penalties two years ago, eventually competing in the 2022 tournament in Algeria.
