Rooney has answered the speculation surrounding his dramatic transformation.

Details: Former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney has denied rumours that he used weight-loss injections after his noticeably slimmer appearance sparked discussion among fans. The 40-year-old addressed the claims while speaking ahead of the release of the new Disney+ series The Real Rooneys.

Rooney insisted that his weight loss was the result of the effort he has been putting in himself, making it clear that he was disappointed to see his progress being linked to injections. His changed appearance became a major talking point after he appeared publicly alongside his wife Coleen.

“Apparently I’ve been taking this pen thing. It’s a shame because I’ve been working really hard to lose weight. Apparently I’ve been on the pen. I couldn’t blow one side out of my nose, so I had it fixed,” Rooney said.

The former striker also explained another visible change in his appearance. Rooney recently underwent surgery on his nose after breaking it twice during his playing career. The procedure was medical rather than cosmetic, as the damage had left him unable to breathe properly through one side of his nose.

It is worth noting that Rooney remains Manchester United’s all-time leading goalscorer. The Englishman scored 253 goals for the Red Devils, more than any other player in the club’s history.
