Denver Nuggets will extend the contract with the head coach

The reigning NBA champions, the Denver Nuggets, will extend the contract with their head coach, Michael Malone, as reported by ESPN.
Negotiations for a new deal commenced after the Nuggets secured the championship in 2023, marking their first title in franchise history. Malone has begun the new season impressively, with Denver leading the Western Conference with eight victories and two defeats.
Overall, Malone has spent eight seasons with Denver. The Nuggets' 2023 playoff run concluded with a remarkable 16-4 record, making it the most successful in the league since the Golden State Warriors in 2017.
Furthermore, Malone ranks as the league's fourth-longest-tenured coach, following Gregg Popovich of San Antonio, Erik Spoelstra of Miami, and Steve Kerr of Golden State. His coaching record includes 375-272 in the regular season with Denver and 37-31 in the playoff.
Under Malone's guidance, Denver boasts the second-highest winning percentage in the NBA since the 2018/19 season, trailing only Milwaukee. Michael ranks third in both the number of games (647) and victories (375) among Denver Nuggets coaches, trailing behind Doug Moe and George Karl.
