Demba Ba pays tribute to Youssouf Diouf, who died during a Senegalese Ligue 2 match
The former Senegalese international did so in a message the day after the young footballer's death.
This tragedy shocked the football world on Sunday 22 February 2026. Youssouf Diouf died tragically at the end of the match between his club AS Saloum and Amitié FC on the Matchday 16 of the Senegalese second division.
The young player collapsed and could not be resuscitated despite medical efforts. Since his death, tributes have been pouring in. Among those who have spoken out is the former Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham player. In a message posted on social media, Demba Ba offered his condolences.
‘Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Youssouf Diouf and AS Saloum following the death of our young brother. The entire Amitie FC club prays that Allah will open the gates of paradise to him.’
