Charles Leclerc was involved in a crash at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, with the location making the incident particularly symbolic. The Ferrari driver crashed at the famous Parabolica corner — exactly six years after a similar incident at the same circuit.

The accident occurred on the third lap of the race. Leclerc lost control of his car, ran into the gravel and collided with the barriers. Following the heavy impact, red flags were brought out, while the Italian Grand Prix came to an early end for the Monegasque.

According to reports from the scene, Leclerc himself was unharmed and got out of the damaged car unaided. Shortly before the crash, the Ferrari driver had been involved in another incident: he pushed his team-mate Lewis Hamilton off the track, before ending up in the gravel himself. Moments later, Leclerc crashed into the Parabolica barriers.

Remarkably, on 6 September 2020, Leclerc also crashed at Parabolica during the Italian Grand Prix. Exactly six years later, history repeated itself — once again at Monza.
