Deco responds to whether a short-term Messi loan to Barcelona is possible in early 2026
The MLS season is nearing its end and will go on hiatus until spring 2026. Rumours have already surfaced about a potential short-term loan for Messi to another club as preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
Details: Barcelona’s sporting director Deco was asked about the possibility of such a move. According to the club legend, it is highly unlikely. Messi is under contract with Inter Miami, and the parties have never even discussed such an option.
Quote: “Leo Messi on a short-term loan? I don’t think that’s possible. Leo has a contract. I don’t think this has ever been discussed… Messi is always Messi, he can always bring something; but right now, this isn’t something we’re going to talk about,” Deco said.
Inter Miami and Lionel Messi will play Vancouver in the MLS playoff final. The match will take place on Saturday, 6 December, kicking off at 20:30 CET.
Reminder: Lionel Messi was at the centre of attention in the MLS semifinal — he delivered an assist and set another impressive record.
