Deco Comments on Whether Barcelona Will Extend De Jong's Contract

Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, has addressed the ongoing discussions regarding a potential contract extension for midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Details: According to the executive, the club is actively working on securing a new deal for the Dutch playmaker while being mindful of financial constraints.

Quote: “This is a normal part of the process. He’s an exceptional player, and we’re reviewing all our contracts, but we need to be conscious of our financial limitations. We continue to work on this discreetly — that’s my approach,” Deco told Mundo Deportivo.

Reminder: This season, De Jong has made 7 appearances for the Blaugrana across all competitions, without registering any goals or assists. His current contract with the club runs until 2026.

Notably, Deco previously mentioned that the club is set to extend the contract of central midfielder Pedri in the near future.
