Decision made? McTominay has settled his future with Napoli
Napoli are set to extend midfielder Scott McTominay’s contract until the summer of 2030. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club’s management views the Scotsman as one of the cornerstone players in Massimiliano Allegri’s project and is ready to offer him a new deal.
Sources report that Allegri envisions the 29-year-old as a pivotal figure in his tactical system. In the 4-3-3 formation, McTominay operates as a free-roaming central midfielder, leveraging his strengths—physical power, timely attacking runs, and effectiveness inside the opponent’s penalty area.
McTominay’s current contract runs until the summer of 2028, with a salary of approximately €3.5 million per season. Napoli plans to extend the agreement by two more years—through 2030—with an option for a further extension to 2031. Negotiations with the player and his representatives are expected to commence after the summer transfer window closes, once the squad has been finalized.
McTominay himself is not rushing into any decisions and remains fully focused on preparing for the new season, but he has already made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that he would like to stay in Naples for many years to come.
