Bayern Munich's current head coach, Thomas Tuchel, has confirmed that he will not continue with the club in the next season.

"We have agreed to conclude our working relationship at the end of this season. Until that moment, I will, of course, continue to do everything possible to achieve maximum success," stated Tuchel.

Bayern Munich has also officially confirmed the coaching change on their official website.

Fabrizio Romano confirms that Liverpool and Bayern Munich will compete for the services of Bayer Leverkusen's head coach, Xabi Alonso. The Spanish coach, who previously played for both clubs, is leaning towards replacing Jurgen Klopp.

Earlier, it became known that the Bayern players were divided into two groups, with one supporting Tuchel, and the other advocating for his departure.

Tuchel unexpectedly became the head coach of Germany's most decorated club in the spring of last year, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann. Due to Borussia Dortmund's stumble in the last match of the previous season, Tuchel managed to win the Bundesliga with Bayern.

Prior to joining Bayern, the 50-year-old German coached Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, and Chelsea. He won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea in the 2020/21 season.

It's worth noting that Bayern Munich suffered three consecutive defeats for the first time since 2015, unexpectedly losing to Bochum (2-3) on February 18. In the Bundesliga, Munich is currently in second place, trailing Bayer Leverkusen by 8 points. In the UEFA Champions League, Bayern Munich lost the first leg of the round of 16 against Lazio (0-1).
