Deal in principle! Milan star says yes to Turkish giants, but one obstacle remains
The summer's longest transfer saga is approaching its climax.
Details: According to insider Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Galatasaray have reached an agreement with Rafael Leão on a salary of €12 million per year. However, an agreement between the Istanbul club and AC Milan has not yet been reached.
The Turkish champions have already had a €35 million bid rejected this summer, while Milan are holding out for €50 to 60 million for their number 10. The Rossoneri are open to selling the 27-year-old Portuguese, who has publicly spoken of his desire for a new challenge, but are unwilling to lower their demands, as the proceeds are needed to finance Massimiliano Allegri's squad rebuild. Fenerbahce also remain in the race, yet Leão's priority now appears to be the move to Galatasaray.
The Istanbul side are ready to more than double his current salary of €5.5 million plus bonuses at San Siro. It's worth noting that Leão has made 293 appearances for Milan since joining from Lille in 2019, scoring 80 goals and providing 55 assists, and his contract until 2028 includes a release clause of €175 million.
Reminder: Transfer bombshell from Italy! Aston Villa enter the race for Milan's star winger.
