Deadline-day twist! Sevilla hijack Youssouf Fofana move after Lyon collapse
Youssouf Fofana's chaotic deadline day has produced another dramatic turn.
Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla have reached a verbal agreement to sign the French midfielder from AC Milan. The deal will be structured as a loan, with the Spanish club moving quickly after Fofana's proposed switch to Lyon collapsed.
Fofana had been close to returning to Ligue 1 earlier on deadline day. Milan and Lyon had reached an agreement over a loan, but the move eventually fell through after the French club was unable to complete the operation before its transfer deadline. The 27-year-old midfielder was therefore forced to look for another destination.
Sevilla have now taken advantage of the situation. Romano reports that the parties managed to reach a verbal agreement in time, with Fofana set to leave Milan on loan. The insider has given the transfer his famous here we go, although at the time of the report the agreement remains verbal and an official club announcement has not yet been published.
It is worth noting that Fofana joined AC Milan from Monaco in the summer of 2024 and remains under contract with the Italian club until 2028. Last season, the France international made 33 Serie A appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
