De Zerbi criticized the work of referees in the Premier League

Roberto De Zerbi, head coach of the English club Brighton, came down quite harshly on the referees who officiate matches in the English Premier League.

"I'm honest and clear: I don't like 80 per cent of English referees. It's not news, I don't like them. What specifically bothers me? Their behaviour... I don't like their behavior on the pitch.

England is the only country where there is a VAR system, but you cannot be sure that the decisions made are correct. In other countries you have to be 100 percent confident in the referee. Now I work in England and I only talk about these referees. It would be incorrect if I start talking about other referees,” De Zerbi said in an interview with The Athletic.

Interestingly, in the game against Sheffield United, Brighton midfielder Mahmoud Daoud received a red card.
