De Jong confident he will extend contract with Barcelona

For quite some time, there was a sense that midfielder Frenkie de Jong would eventually leave Barcelona due to an inability to reach an agreement on a new contract. However, the Dutchman himself has a different perspective.
Details: According to De Jong, both he and Barcelona want to continue working together, and when both sides are on the same page, the chances of an agreement are much higher.
Quote: “I want this, and so does the club, so usually an agreement is reached. I hope it happens soon. It hasn’t been the best year for me. People like to exaggerate. Of course, I was out for quite a while due to an ankle injury, but even before that I was playing well.
The main difference now is that we have a stronger team, and it's clear to see. Personally, I even think that in the season before my injury, I was in better form. But yes, when you win every domestic title in Spain in a single year and reach the Champions League semi-finals, you simply get more attention,” De Jong told Mundo Deportivo.
