Davido Places $25,000 Bet on Super Eagles Ahead of AFCON 2025 Opener vs Tanzania

Popular Afrobeats icon Davido has once again demonstrated his loyalty to the Super Eagles, backing Nigeria with a $25,000 wager (about ₦36 million) ahead of their opening Group C match against Tanzania at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Nigerian music star was already at the center of attention on Sunday after delivering a high-energy performance at the AFCON opening ceremony alongside global rap sensation French Montana. Hours later, Davido took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to further show his support by posting a screenshot of his betting slip with the message, “Let’s get this W, Nigeria.”

The betting slip, placed via the Stake app, indicates a prediction for both teams to score, with a potential return estimated at around $90,000 (roughly ₦140 million).

Nigeria will face Tanzania on December 23 at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, Morocco, as the three-time champions begin their quest for a fourth AFCON crown.
